OTIS CHRIS SCHATZBERG, 92, of rural Shell Rock died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at his home. He was born October 20, 1911 near Swanton, Butler County, Iowa the son of Chris & Hattie (Van Hauen) Schatzberg. He married Alice Christoffersen November 15, 1937 at Northwood, Iowa. Otis farmed his entire life, first at Riceville, Iowa and then at his farm in rural Shell Rock, Iowa until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Schatzberg; two sons, Gary (Patty) Schatzberg of Cedar Falls, Dale (Dorothy) Schatzberg of Janesville; six grandchildren, Kevin (Amber) Schatzberg of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Brian (Kelly) Schatzberg of St. Charles, Missouri, Todd (Michele) Schatzberg of West Des Moines, Iowa, Terri (Randy) Thomsen and Anne (Steve) Wilkins, all of Waverly, Iowa, and Nick Jones of Cedar Falls; thirteen great grandchildren, and one sister, Edna Lampman of Janesville. Otis was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Walter "Bud" Schatzberg; and two sisters, Alida Henry and Alice Meier.
Services were 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at Finchford Community Bible Church in Finchford, with burial at Finchford Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.Guestbook
