Orlan Ralph Ott

Orlan R. Ott, 81, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.

Orlan was born January 31, 1943 in Sioux City to the late Albert and Lillian (Holtgrewe) Ott. He graduated from Paullina High School in 1961. His first marriage was to Julie Hedin and later divorced. Orlan met Nancy Korte following a friend's encouragement to call her and the couple married on March 1, 1975, Orlan married Nancy Korte at the College Hill Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. They spent 44 years together prior to Nancy's death on January 11, 2020. Orlan was co-owner and operator of Brandco, Inc for 22 years and worked for Benton's Ready Mix for 16 years. He retired in 2009.

If you couldn't find Orlan, chances are he was in his workshop restoring tractors, tinkering with other projects, or in the yard splitting wood. He loved to restore classic tractors and show them at tractor shows and parades. He enjoyed being outside and went on many camping adventures with Nancy.

Orlan is survived by his children, Carmela (Jeff) Thode, Bryan Korte, and Clint (Cindy) Korte; grandchildren, Britney Leibold, Tyler Korte, Holly (Rocky) Irby, Brooke (CJ) Isbell, and Megan Korte; great-grandchildren, Ava, Alayna and Jhett Leibold, and Katelyn, Bayleigh and Caden Irby; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy Ott; and twin-brother at birth.

A visitation will be held from 4:30-7pm, on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Visitation will continue on Thursday, October 24 from 10-11am at College Hill Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with Orlan's funeral starting at 11am. Please join the family for a reception immediately following the service at the church. Burial will take place at a later date.
