Oliver Gerald Remaly

Oliver "Gerald" Remaly III, 54, of Waterloo, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of Waterloo.  He was born December 20, 1965, in Moline, Illinois, son of Oliver and Suzanne (Reinier) Remaly, Jr.  Gerald was raised in Davenport, Iowa, and has lived in Burlington, West Burlington, Mt. Pleasant, Cedar Rapids, Evansdale and Des Moines, Iowa as well as Omaha, Nebraska and Alton, Illinois.  He worked at New Star Liquor in Raymond and, most recently, Menards Cross Dock in Shell Rock.  Gerald served in the National Guard for 12 years.

Gerald was preceded in death by his mother; and a niece, Stephanie Cole.  He is survived by his father, Oliver (Doris) Remaly, Jr. of New London; siblings: Lori (Curtis) Jackson of Waterloo; Lucinda (Jerry) Cole of Delaware, OK; Trudy Remaly of Davenport; William Remaly of New London, Iowa; and Mark Lennie; a son, Mathew (Carolynn) Fritz of Des Moines; twin daughters, Jeracho and Jeralyn Pettit of Nowata, OK; and 2 grandchildren, Maya and Vedek Fritz.

There will be a visitation from 5-5:30 pm on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home of Cedar Falls with a memorial service to follow beginning at 5:30 pm.  Attendees are asked to bring and wear a mask for services.  Memorials may be directed to the family and condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .

Gerald was the ultimate people person.  He worked at convenience stores for many years because he enjoyed meeting people as they came and went.  Gerald was an avid reader of all types of books so he had a lot of knowledge about many different topics allowing him to connect with his customers.  In his free time, he also enjoyed model trains and playing Dungeons and Dragons.
