NORMA F.
PRIEST, 96, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at the Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls. She was born December 11, 1909 in Hawkeye, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Purl (Henderson) Smith. Norma married Leo Edward Priest on April 27, 1932 in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death on December 24, 1977. Norma was a 1927 graduate of West Union High School and graduated from Presbyterian Hospital Nursing School in Waterloo. She worked for a short time at the hospital prior to raising her family. Norma was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls and the Cedar Falls Woman's Club.
Survivors include her son, Col. Robert D. (Sharon) Priest of Fredericksburg, Virginia and her daughter, Barbara (Dr. Donald) Olsen of Rochester, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Michelle Davis) Priest, Marti Linn (Patrick J.) Wager, Gerri Priest (C. Carson) Duke, Kurt Karl (Joan Conroy) Olsen, Lynn (Kurt) Ault, and Bradley Olsen; eight great-grandchildren and a sister, May Dawn Dean of Fayette, Iowa.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two brothers, Keith and Robert Smith, and two sisters, Zoe Smith and Madge Shaffer.
Funeral services were Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at The Western Home Communities Chapel in Cedar Falls, with interment at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
