Norbert Richard Roy

Norbert Richard Roy, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, December 21, 2023 at his home.

He was born on August 2, 1934, in Berlin, New Hampshire, the son of Charles and Anna (Leclerc) Roy. Norbert graduated from Notre Dame High School before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corp in 1954, serving during the Korean War. He earned the rank of Sargeant before his release from active duty in 1957. Norbert married Therese "Terry" Daneault on August 30, 1958 in Manchester, New Hampshire. Norbert worked as a diesel mechanic and owner/operator of his own shop, Iowa Diesel Injection Service in New Hartford, IA. Norbert and Terry shared 53 years of marriage before her death on December 24, 2011. Norbert married Uyntha (Parsons) Duncan on October 5, 2013 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls.

Norbert is survived by his children, Clifford Roy of Cedar Falls, and Elaine (Greg) Stieneke of Cherokee; grandchildren, Paige, Adam and Matthew Stieneke; siblings, Cy Roy, Huguette Duff, and Claudette (Joe) Richmond; and sisters-in-law, Pam Roy and Laura Daneault.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Therese Roy; and brother, Rene Roy.

Funeral Mass for Norbert will be 10am, Wednesday, December 27, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with visitation an hour prior. Burial with full military honors will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Please join the family for a reception back at the church immediately following the Committal.
