NELLIE E.
CHAMBERS, 97, of Cedar Falls, died of pneumonia on Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Sartori Memorial Hospital. She was born August 28, 1908 near Belle Plaine, Kansas, the daughter of I. E. and May Belle (Hamilton) Meeker. Nellie married Berlin "Mugs" Chambers on August 4, 1925 at Wellington, Kansas. Berlin preceded her in death in 1991. Nellie was a homemaker and seamstress, and in retirement enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include her daughter, Eileen (Rick) Fellows of Wren, Mississippi, and her son, Gary (Carolyn) Chambers of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother, William (Pearle) Meeker, of Springfield, Missouri, and a sister, Katherine Conaway, of Anderson, South Carolina.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a daughter and son in infancy; two brothers, Harry and Glen Meeker, and a sister, Vona Wilson.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006, at First Christian Church in Cedar Falls. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Tonkawa, Oklahoma. Memorials may be directed to First Christian Church, Cedar Falls or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
