Neal Thuesen

Neal P. Thuesen, 86, of Cedar Falls, Iowa  and formerly of Dike, Iowa died Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Thuesen Cottage, Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls.  He was born September 9, 1931 in Cedar Falls, the son of Theodore & Christine (Jensen) Thuesen.  Neal married Jeanne Diebner on April 8, 1961 in Parkston, South Dakota.  He was a 1949 graduate of Dike High School.  He worked at Rath Packing Company after high school.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict.  He was stationed in Japan during military service.  Neal farmed for many years retiring in 1992.  He was a member of Fredsville Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 471 and the Danish Brotherhood Lodge 144.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne of Cedar Falls; his daughter Cindy (Mark) Hedge of Fremont, Iowa; his son Tom Thuesen of West Des Moines, Iowa; a grandson, Sean Hedge of Fremont, Iowa; his brother, Theodore (Mary) Thuesen of Hickory, North Carolina; his sister Carol (Gordon) DeYoung of Minneapolis, Minnesota and many nieces and nephews.

Neal was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Fredsville Lutheran Church with inurnment at a later date in Fredsville Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church.  Memorials may be directed to Fredsville Lutheran Church or the Western Home Communities.  Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
