Miriam Overbaugh Bonner, 80, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. She was born May 31, 1936 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Gordon and Florence (Overbaugh) Spry. Miriam married John Bonner on February 25, 1961 at Central Christian Church in Waterloo. She graduated from Waterloo East High School and Gates Business College. Miriam was a bookkeeper at Young Coal Company, Rath Credit Union and Waterloo Concrete Company. She also was a clerk at both Rainbow Grocery and the Kwik Shop. She enjoyed playing tennis and bowling. Miriam was a volunteer with the Cedar Falls High School Girls Tennis Team.
She is survived by her husband, John Bonner, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Michael John (Autumn) Bonner of Birmingham, Alabama and Brian Gordon (Brenda) Bonner of La Porte City, Iowa; five grandchildren, Ashley, Lauren, Alexandra, Madeline and Abigail Bonner, and her sister, Katherine Spry, of Kansas City, Missouri.
Miriam was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Richard and Douglas Spry.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Orchard Hill Church, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4—7:00 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
