Mildred Lechner

Mildred Lechner, 96, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, September 26, 2014, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. She was born June 16, 1918 in Bennington Township, near Dunkerton, Iowa, the daughter of John H. and Anna Elizabeth (Moeller) Poock. Mildred married Oscar A. Lechner November 28, 1940 in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death September 20, 1983. Mildred is survived by one daughter, Shirley Merner of Cedar Falls and one son, David (Doreen) Lechner of New Hartford; one grandson, Chad (Deb) Lechner of Cedar Rapids, and two great grandchildren, Rylan and Alec Lechner. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one daughter, Sharon K. Lechner; four brothers, Lavern, Arnold, Melvin, and Virgil Poock, and one sister, Leona Sinclair. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Nazareth Lutheran Church with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral and one hour before service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to Christian Crusaders and Cedar Valley Hospice.
