Merwyn H Mixdorf

Merwyn H. Mixdorf, 85, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, November 20, 2011, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls. He was born February 11, 1926 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Henry and Helen (Shroeder) Mixdorf. He married Marjorie  A. Odell  August 21, 1949 at Greeley, Iowa. She preceded him in death April 12, 2011. Merwyn graduated from Waterloo West High School and served in the United States Army Air Force in World War II.  Merwyn was superintendant for Jens Olsen Construction for twenty-five years and was ground superintendant for the Cedar Falls Schools for eighteen years, retiring in 1990.

Merwyn is survived by one son, Jon (Robin) Mixdorf, of Center Point, Iowa; three daughters, Mary (Ken) Conlee of Lees Summit, Missouri , Julie (Gary) Read of Carrollton, Texas and Shelley (Bruce) Verink of Cedar Falls; ten grandchildren; and two sisters, Jean (Dick) Gates of Des Moines and Bonnie Nichols of Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Les and Ellsworth Mixdorf, and one sister, Adeline Holdiman.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011, at  Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be one hour before services.
