Merwin H Schloman

Merwin H. Schloman, 84, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, May 13, 2011, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.  He was born June 17, 1926 near Readlyn, Iowa, the son of Henry August and Irene (Warneke)Schlomann.  Merwin married Verla  D. Johnson on June 30, 1946 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waterloo.  He was a 1945 graduate of Denver High School. Merwin owned and operated Cedar Heights Carpet Installation Service, retiring in 2001.

Survivors include his wife, Verla Schloman, of Cedar Falls; four daughters, Mary Jean (Jerome) Pesartic of Phoenix, Arizona, Nancy Irene (Robert Jr. ) Nichols of Scottsdale, Arizona, Joanne Carol (Gary) Mayo of Cedar Falls and Brenda Sue (Roscoe) Mueller of LaJunta, Colorado; twelve grandchildren, Michelle DuBois, Tamara Gerbich, Bryan Pesartic, Tiffani Nichols, Robert Nichols  III, Scott Mayo, Stacie Mayo, Jordan Mayo, Mitchell Mueller, Alyssa Mueller, Blake Mueller and Brooklyn Mueller; six great grandchildren, and a brother, Duane Schlomann, of Denver, Iowa.

Merwin was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.  Visitation will be 4—7:00 pm Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
