MERNAL IRENE SCHAFER, 88, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Maple Manor Care Center, Aplington, Iowa. She was born September 24, 1914, in Grundy Center, Iowa the daughter of Morris and Savannah (Lynch) Pierce. She married Marvin C. Schafer on June 22, 1935, in Grundy Center. He preceded her in death on February 22, 1998.
Survivors include two sons, Marvin Charles (Marcella) of New Hartford and Michael Jon (Petra) of Sunnyvale, California; a daughter, Dee Ann Christensen of Coon Rapids Minnesota.; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter; and two sisters, Mary Viet of Hudson and Bernice Saathoff of Tucson, Arizona. Mernal was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four grandchildren.
Services were 10 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2003, at Valley View Baptist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the church.Guestbook
