Melba J Hartson

Melba J. Hartson, 96, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, December 7, 2009 at Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center. She was born May 14, 1913 in Lyle, MN the daughter of John and Theodora (Anderson) Knutson. Melba married Kenneth L. Hartson on June 26, 1935 in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death August 16, 1949. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School. . Melba attended Mounds Midway School of Nursing in St. Paul, MN. and earned a Medical Technology Degree. She returned to Cedar Falls and was employed for twenty five years (1953—1978) as a medical Technologist at Sartori Hospital.

She is survived by one son John (anne) Hartson of Iowa City; two grandchildren, Benjamin Hartson of Iowa City and Lauren Hartson of Mankato, MN and one sister, Pauline Shreve of Cedar Falls.

Melba was preceded in death by parents, husband and two sisters, Freda Anderson and Marcelle Mouwdy.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will also be Thursday from 12:30 to 1: 30 p.m. at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Western Home. Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com
