Maxine LaVonne Leymaster passed away at 4:30 a.m. on January 13, 2005, in St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota, due to complications of a stroke and heart attack December 9, 2004. She was born February 6, 1925 at Shell Rock, Iowa, to John and Cecil Lockwood Nieman. She married Ralph (Red) Leymaster on December 3, 1947, at the First Evangelical United Brethren Church, Cedar Falls, Iowa. Maxine and Red farmed in Cedar Falls township for fifty-six years. They moved into Friendship Village, Waterloo, Iowa, September, 2000. Survivors include her husband, Red, of Waterloo, Iowa; five sons, Ron Leymaster of Lees Summit, Missouri, and his children Bret, Beau, Brooke, Tai, and Matt; Kreg and Jane Leymaster of Hastings, Nebraska, and their children Sarah and Jonathan; Rusty and Deb Leymaster of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and their children Keri and Bailey; Mark and Brenda Leymaster of Long Beach, California; Mike and Ann Leymaster of Walford, Iowa; brothers Ken and Gordon Nieman, and their wives Deloris and Janet, of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Harry and Gladys Hograbe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Three great grandchildren; eight nephews and nieces; one special friend Vernon Robbins; and many, many friends. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Janell Nieman. Services were 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 17, 2005, at First Christian Church with private interment at Fairview Cemetery prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, Memorials to Friendship Village Auxiliary; Black Hawk County Chapter of the American Heart Association, or Cedar Valley Arboretum.
