Max "Mick" Ward

Max "Mick" Ward, 84, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Sartori Memorial Hospital. He was born October 7, 1929 in Cedar Falls, the son of George and Bessie (Pattee) Ward. Max married Betty Grandon on July 16, 1949 in Cedar Falls. He was a machinist at Clay Equipment Company in Cedar Falls for forty-four years, retiring in 1991. Max enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching his grandsons play sports. Survivors include his wife, Betty Ward, of Cedar Falls; his son, Jerry (Carla) Ward, of Cedar Falls; his daughter, Vickie (Jim) Heiselman, of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Jamie (Kristin) Heiselman, Jeff (Nicole) Heiselman, Gabe Ward and Matt Ward; and four great grandchildren, Caleb, Hunter, Cody and Dylan Heiselman. Max was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Earl, Gale, Floyd and Don Ward. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Hillside Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, and one hour before service, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or NewAldaya Lifescapes.
