Mavis D Wackerbarth

Mavis D. Wackerbarth, 81, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, January 3, 2010, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.  She was born March 17, 1928 near Melvin, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Emma (Gildemeister) Miller. Mavis graduated from Melvin High School in 1945. She married Merland J. Wackerbarth on June 15, 1952 at Melvin, Iowa. He preceded her in death April 9, 1984.

Survivors include one son, Mark (Nancy) Wackerbarth, of Urbandale, Iowa and one daughter, Lu Jean (Kevin) Healy, of Prior Lake, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Meagan (Cory) Johnson, Michael and Nathan Wackerbarth; one great granddaughter, Ava Leigh Johnson, and one sister, Donna (Robert) Harms, of Houston, Texas.

Mavis was preceded in death by her parents and husband, and three brothers, Roger, Verlis and Russell Miller.

Services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Nazareth Lutheran Church Chapel, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.  Visitation will be one hour before service at the church.  Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
