Maurene B. LaVelle, 95, of Cedar Falls, died of natural causes on Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. She was born June 24, 1913 in Emmetsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Luella (Meade) O'Connor. Maurene married Vernon C. LaVelle on October 13, 1931 in Vinton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 21, 1986.
Survivors include her son, Wayne (Jo) LaVelle, of Dike, Iowa; two daughters, Donna (Bernie) Musch and Sharon Schoepske, both of Waterloo; twelve grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and fourteen great great grandchildren. Maurene was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a grandson; two brothers, Thomas and Kenneth O'Connor, and a sister, Lois Thompson.Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Saturday, November 22, 2008, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 3—7:00 pm Friday, November 21, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, where a 4:00 pm Rosary Service and a 7:00 pm Vigil Service will be conducted. Visitation also one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
