Maureen C. "Renee" Sullivan of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. She was born in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Aurella (Oster) Oberfoell. Maureen married Thomas M. Sullivan on September 11, 1954 at Third Presbyterian Church in Dubuque. She was a graduate of Dubuque Senior High School and was a secretary at Farley & Loetcher in Dubuque. Maureen later worked as a secretary in the civil service in Alaska and was a secretary in the music department at Iowa State University. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Black Hawk County YMCA, the Cedar Heights Women's Club and Floral Design, Flower Arranging. She enjoyed her family, crafts, painting, crocheting, creating and designing cards, and was an award-winning floral designer at the Cattle Congress floral competitions. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Sullivan, Sr., of Cedar Falls, a son, Thomas Sullivan, Jr., of Cedar Falls, and two daughters, Rene K. Sullivan and Tamara L. Sullivan, both of Hutchinson, Kansas. Maureen was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque. Visitation will be 57:00 p.m. Friday, and one hour before service, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Black Hawk County YMCA or First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls.
