MATTHEW A. PERSSON was born March 27, 1978 in Waterloo, Iowa the son of Roger Kenneth Persson and Vickie Cecile Benson. He graduated from West High School in Waterloo in 1997 and was employed by Comprehensive Systems in Cedar Falls. Matt inherited his gentle spirit from his great grandfather, Cecil G. DeVore, with whom he cherished spending time with. Matt died Sunday, May 19, 2002 in Cedar Falls at the age of 24 years.
Survivors include his mother, Vickie Benson of Cedar Falls; his father, Roger Persson of Phoenix, Arizona; his half-sister, Tina Clark of Hillsboro, Oregon; his paternal grandmother, Bernice M. Persson of Phoenix, and his maternal grandparents, William Evan and Valeria Joan Benson of Orlando, Florida.
Matt was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Kenneth M. Persson.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2002 at Orchard Hill Church with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the National Epilepsy foundation or the March of Dimes.
