MaryAnn Bolhuis, 87, of Cedar Falls, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Western Home Communities Martin Suites in Cedar Falls. She was born on August 28, 1937, the daughter of Sievert and Jennie (Engelkes) VanHauen, at the family farm in rural Grundy County, Iowa. On December 16, 1957, MaryAnn married Chris Bolhuis in Parkersburg, Iowa, and was a dedicated homemaker. They shared nearly 34 happily married years together, and many rides as proud members of the Goldwing Road Riders Association, prior to Chris' death on December 1, 1992.
Along with the Goldwing Road Riders Association, MaryAnn was a lifelong member of Orchard Hill Church and began volunteering for Connect and Care in 1998. Always putting others first, she supported various charitable organizations throughout her life including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the American Heart Association, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association to name a few. MaryAnn loved organ music and country music, especially Joe Diffie. Above all, she loved her family and will be greatly missed.
MaryAnn is survived by her children, Ronnie (Shirley Kohler) Bolhuis, Shirley (Walter) Lamprecht, and Cindy (Rod) Anderson, all of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Beverly VanHauen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chris Bolhuis; brother, LaVern VanHauen; and sisters, Lorraine (Tony) Reiken, Leona (Verne) Van Lengen, and Marie Jane VanHauen in infancy.
MaryAnn's funeral will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Orchard Hill Church in Cedar Falls, with visitation an hour prior.
