Mary V. Winslow, 98, a 70 year resident of Washington, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Thuesen Cottage, Western Home Communities of Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was born on May 24, 1927, in Hannibal, Missouri, daughter of Zeno and Rose (Cosgrove) Klene. Mary graduated from Hannibal High School with the Class of 1944. She was a graduate of Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas, with a degree in economics and education. Mary married William A. Winslow at Blessed Sacrament Church in Hannibal on July 11, 1949. They settled in Washington, Illinois.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill, of 74 years, who passed away on October 20, 2023; her sister, Shirley (Phil) Holderness; and her brother, James (Donna Rae) Klene. She is survived by her daughters: Anne (Ron) Gschwend of Olympia, Washington, and Marty (Ric) Foreman of Waterloo, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: Charlie, Christopher and Curtis Gschwend, Natalie (Kurt) Walker, Alice Foreman and Grant Foreman; and 5 great-grandchildren: Eli and Rosie Gschwend and Callista, Caspian and Atlas Walker. She is also survived by her brother, David (Sandy) Klene.
Mary was an active member of her community. She was a 6th grade teacher at St. Patrick Grade School for many years. She volunteered as a 4-H leader, member of the St. Patrick Parish Council and president of the Altar & Rosary Society. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and English tutor to Hmong refugees. Mary enjoyed her bridge clubs and spending time with her many friends.
Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her love, kindness and wisdom leaves a legacy that lives on through generations.
Mary and Bill had a long and loving marriage. Together they built a life of joy, curiosity and care. They enjoyed traveling together, entertaining friends and family, and spending time with their daughters and their families. She will be deeply missed by all.

Mary's Visitation will be at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington, Illinois, on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 5-7:00 PM with a Vigil at 6:00. The Funeral will be at St. Patrick Church, Washington, at 11 AM on Friday, June 20th with burial following at Glendale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick School in Washington, Illinois or towards Alzheimer's Research.
