Mary Magdalen Reiter Burk

Mary Magdalen "Maggie" Reiter Burk, 92, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, September 16, 2012, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. She was born February 15, 1920 in Eagle Center, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Angela (Klein) Reiter. Maggie married Vesper Burk on September 27, 1945 at Camp Bowie, Brownwood, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1991. Maggie was a graduate of Eagle Center High School and was a volunteer for over 1700 hours at St. Anne's Hospital in Westerville, Ohio. Survivors include two sons, Jim (Lillian) Burk of Montgomery, Texas and Jerry (Louisa) Burk of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Dana, Joshua, Jim, Jennifer and Mason; four great grandchildren, Skye, Cole, Cade and Faith; two brothers, Harold (Jackie) Reiter of Eagle Center and Donald (Phyllis) Reiter of Waterloo; two sisters, Luella Zmolek of Cedar Falls and Olivia Werner of Urbandale, Iowa, and three step sisters, Patricia McKenna, Villanova (Glen) Foss and JoAnn (Cletus) Phillips, all of La Porte City. Maggie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, her step mother, Gertrude Gibson Klein Reiter, and two sisters, Dorothy Bohnstengel and Evelyn Reiter in infancy. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Visitation will be 4 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, where a 4:00 p.m. Rosary Service and a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service will be conducted.
