Mary Ellen A. Redl, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. She was born December 11, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of John and Gertrude (Simon) Lloyd. Mary married John Redl on June 9, 1947 in Newcastle, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2007. Mary was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls. Survivors include two sons, Peter (Jeanie) Redl of Cedar Falls and David (Sharon) Redl of Oelwein, Iowa; three grandchildren, Christopher Redl of Aurora, Colorado, Laura (Jay) Sidles of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Kathie (Kevin) Kane of Fairbank, Iowa, and ten great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband, a brother, John Lloyd, and three sisters, Virginia Hall, Henrietta Nix and Alberta Pumphrey. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 47:00 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. A memorial fund will be established.
