Mary Margaret "Dargy" Baxter, 82, Cedar Falls, died Thursday, January 18, 2024 at MercyOne Cedar Falls Medical Center.

She was born November 3, 1941 in Omaha, Nebraska to the late E.W. "Alex" and Edna A. (Yoder) Hamilton.  Dargy graduated from Teachers College High School in Cedar Falls and went on to graduate from the State University of Iowa (U of I) and later attended the State College of Iowa (UNI).  Dargy worked in the young field of electronic data processing at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland, retiring in 1977.

Dargy is a past President of the Cedar Falls Women's Club, past President of UNI Connection, member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority, member of the American Association of University Women, General Federation of Women's Clubs, University of Iowa alumni, and Smithsonian Association.  On May 22, 2017, her name was added to the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum's Wall of Honor with the following citation "Ms Mary M. Baxter was a manager of system integration testing for a portion of the worldwide tracking network which supported manned and unmanned space exploration missions at Goddard Space Flight Center."

Dargy is survived by her nephews, William McCullough of Sacramento, CA and John McCullough of Castaic, CA; and extended family and friends.  She is preceded in death by her sister, Edna Suzanne McCullough.

A celebration of Dargy's life will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.  Visitation will be 9:30 AM until the time of service at the funeral home on Monday.  Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Cedar Falls Women's Club (302 Clay Street, Cedar Falls, 50613) in Dargy's memory.
