Mary Wong Boileau

Mary Wong Boileau, 73, of Cedar Falls died Tuesday December 7 at MercyOne Hospital.

Mary was born June 7, 1948, in Waterloo, daughter of Wayne and Lane Wong.

Mary attended Waterloo Schools and graduated from East High in 1966. She enjoyed being in orchestra and other activities. After graduating from High School, Mary attended and graduated from Gates Business College.

In 1973 she married James Boileau in Cedar Falls Iowa.

Mary was employed by UNI in print services until she started a family.

Mary's biggest enjoyment was family, gardening, traveling, camping and her faith in God.

For several years, Mary worked with youth ministry, sang in the church choir  and directed the bell choir at First Christian Church in Cedar Falls. Those were some of her biggest joys with her church family.

Mary is survived by her husband Jim Boileau and a son, Kevin Boileau of West Des Moines. Two sisters, Helen (Ed) Kinnaman of La Mesa, CA and Dorothy (Dane) Warren of Waterloo. Two brothers, Frank Wong of San Diego, CA and Charles Wong of Johnston, IA. There are many nieces and nephews that also shared in Mary's life.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Genevieve; a brother, Harry; and two sons, Todd and Alan.

The funeral service for Mary will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at First Christian Church, Cedar Falls.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 21 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home; resuming on Wednesday at 9:30 AM until the time of service at the church.  Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.   Masks are recommended to worn at the visitation and required at the church for visitation and funeral service.
