Mary L Bauer

MARY LOU BAUER, 75, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. She was born April 28, 1929 in rural Hudson, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Susan (Andorf) Gutknecht. Mary Lou married Leonard Bauer on August 3, 1947 at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Hudson. She and her husband Leonard farmed for many years in both Black Hawk and Grundy County. They owned and operated the Janesville Locker for ten years and the Benson Locker in rural Cedar Falls for over thirty years, with Mary Lou retiring in 2002. She was a member of many church organizations and had been a member of Finchford Community Church for the past nine years.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard, of rural Cedar Falls; three sons, Jim (Linda) Bauer of Finchford, Keith (Jody) Bauer of Hudson and Stan (Bonnie) Bauer of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Janet Lingle of Beverly Hills, Florida, and Karen (Dale) Webb and Marlys (Dan) Surratt, all of Cedar Falls; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a sister, Donna (Jerry) Dufel of Hudson. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Susan Andorf Gutknecht; a brother, Bill Gutknecht; two sisters, Doris Clarke and Alice Brandhorst; a son-in-law, Mike Lingle and a brother-in-law, Dale Clarke. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 24, at First Church of the Open Bible in Waterloo. Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in rural Hudson. Memorials may be directed to Finchford Community Church, Finchford, Iowa. .
