Marvin William Long

It is with great sadness that the family of Marvin "Marv" Long announces his passing on February 18, 2025, at the blessed age of 86.

Marvin will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Melody (Greg) Collins, Pamela (Mike) Foland; grandchildren: Joshua (Susie) Harper, Nicholas (Christina) Long, Mikayla (Zach) Foland, Brooke (Matt) Foland, Brianna Long and Travis Long; several great-grandchildren; and many family members and friends.

Marvin was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dixie; his son, Rodney; parents, Keith and Violet Long; brother, Kenneth Long; father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Dorothy Shepard.

Marvin had a huge passion for trains and model railroading.  He worked at John Deere for 30 years and he drove a school bus for Cedar Falls school district for 16 years after his retirement from John Deere.  Marvin enjoyed traveling through the years with his wife, Dixie, and family.  he also loved being a Boy Scout leader for many years.  In his younger years, he was an avid bowler and played baseball for a John Deere league.  Without doubt, his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life.
