Marvel M Rittgers

Marvel Marie Rittgers, 75, of Waverly and formerly of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.  Marvel was born August 26, 1935, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Charles & Myrtle (Fairbanks) Coffin.  She married Eugene Rittgers June 29, 1953 in Owatonna, Minnesota.   Marvel worked in the Food Service Department for 25 years at Northern University High School and subsequently at the University of Northern Iowa.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene Rittgers, of Waverly; two sons, Darwin (Carolyn) Rittgers, of Waverly and Rev. Del (Chris) Rittgers, of Des Moines; her daughter, Delaine (Robert) Schillie, of Waverly; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and one brother, Howard (Diane) Coffin, of Waterloo.

Marvel was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Alvin Clausen; three brothers, Arthur, Eugene "Richie" and Darrel Coffin; and one sister, Delores Buckman.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Living Water Church of the Nazarene, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for one hour before service time at the church on Saturday.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
