Marvel Agnes Gerjerts, 95, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in Cedar Falls. She was born on June 12, 1929, in rural Allison, Iowa, to Alfred and Alice (Weibke) Ringleb. She was baptized into Christ at St. John's-Vilmar Lutheran Church in rural Butler County, where she was later instructed and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran faith.
Marvel attended country schools and was a 1947 graduate of Clarksville High School. She later obtained her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI). Following her marriage to H. Paul Gerjerts on September 5, 1950, God blessed their lives together in many ways, most especially through their church, their children, and their love for each other. Following Paul's death in 1998, Marvel continued to live in their Cedar Falls home until January, 2021. She was wonderfully devoted to her family, and remained active in the church her entire life.
Marvel's lifelong loves included family, friends, flowers, Cubs/Hawkeyes/Panthers, playing bridge, crocheting, and fishing and traveling with her husband. She and Paul never missed an event or game that involved their grandchildren or, until failing health, their great-grandchildren.
Marvel was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lavon Landers; and brother, Donald Ringleb. Those who remain to cherish her memory include daughter, Terri (Brad) DeHoff of Cedar Falls; son, Greg Gerjerts of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Lindsay (Lance) Broten of Cedar Falls, Erika (Shannon) Leonard of Cedar Falls, Graham (Katie) Gerjerts of Olathe, Kansas, and Kyle (Payten) Gerjerts of Arlington Heights, Illinois; and beloved great grandchildren, Keaton, Willow and Hayden, Jonah and Alaina, Bailey and Elliot, and Reid and Ryann.
The funeral service for Marvel will be at 11:30am, Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in the Larsen Chapel of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls with a reception to follow. No visitation is scheduled and a private burial will be held before the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to

Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write: 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.'" "Yes," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors." (Revelation 14:13a)
