Martin Borchelt

Martin Carl Borchelt, 95, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, January 16, 2017 at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. Martin was born June 12, 1921 in New Salem, North Dakota, the son of Charles & Norma (Burgdorf) Borchelt. He married Margaret Brandhorst January 20, 1962 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Iowa. Martin was employed at the John Deere Product Engineering Center for 31 years, retiring in November 1983. He was a member of the Waterloo Crossroads Rotary Club as well as well as the Elks Club. Martin was active with the Republican Party and was a charter member of the Waterloo Chamber of Commerce Diplomats.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Borchelt of Cedar Falls and his sister, Florence (Juel) Skyland of Bismarck, North Dakota.

Martin was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Victor Borchelt.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls with burial at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hudson. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the church or NewAldaya Lifescapes.
