Marlys' Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with an hour of Visitation prior. Burial will take place at the Allison Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.

Marlys Pfaltzgraff, 88, of Cedar Falls, passed away at UPH/Allen Hospital on Friday, December 22, 2023.  She was born November 18, 1935, to Dale and May (Clark) VerPlank on a farm near Greene, Iowa.  Marlys attended country school 2 miles West of Greene through 8th grade and graduated from Greene High School in 1954.  She worked at the Greene public library and farmer's co-op elevator as a bookkeeper.  On March 28, 1959, Marlys married Neil Francis Pfaltzgraff of Allison at the First Presbyterian Church of Greene.  They lived in Waterloo where Neil worked for John Deere until moving to their current home in Cedar Falls in 1963.  Five children were born to this marriage.  Marlys was a full-time mother and homemaker.  She volunteered at Cedar Heights Community Presbyterian Church in the office, library and kitchen.  She was also a member of the Presbyterian Women serving as treasurer for several years.

Marlys was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Arlene (Bert) Kampman and Carol (Pete) Jones; and 2 granddaughters in infancy, Blair and Hayley.  She is survived by Neil, her husband of 64 years; children: Craig, Brian, and Sue of Cedar Falls; Darwin (Jennifer) of Ackley and Scott (Lindy) of Eagan, MN; 7 grandchildren: Brett, Travis, Matthew, Katelyn, Jeffrey, Connor (fiancée Kelsey Smulski) and Logan; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
