Marlys Ann Keeler

Marlys Ann Keeler, 93, Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at NewAldaya Lifescapes.

Marlys was born June 26, 1932 in Liscomb, Iowa to the late Clarence and Mary (Nelson) Thomas.  She graduated from Albion High School and later married the love of her life, Virgil Keeler, on July 24, 1949 in Albion.  The couple was blessed with three children: Dennis, Diane and Debbie.  Marlys was a devoted wife and mother, working hard to care for her family and being an active member of the Girl and Boy Scouts.  Marlys and Virgil celebrated 58 loving years together before his death on April 20, 2008.

Marlys loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment with them.  She also enjoyed working in her garden, baking many wonderful treats and sewing for craft sales.

Marlys is survived by her children, Dennis Keeler of Gladbrook and Diane (Jerry) Heiser of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Kelli Folkers of Cedar Falls, Jim (Tammy) Keeler of Gladbrook and Brian (Taylor) Folkers of Kansas City, MO; great-grandchildren, Brooks and Bryce Folkers both of Kansas City, MO and Danielle and Ethan Keeler both of Gladbrook; siblings Marvin Thomas of Loveland, CO and Margaret Vannatta of Bella Vista, AR; and extended family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; daughter, Debbie Keeler; daughter-in-law, Sue Keeler; and siblings, Paul, Richard, Dorothy, Sherry, Patty, Tommy and Robert.

There will be a memorial visitation from 3:00-5:00 PM on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.  Marlys and Virgil will be inurned together at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
