Marlene R. Stauffacher, 76, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. Marlene was born April 27, 1932 at Toronto, South Dakota, the daughter of Raymond & Mabel (Estenson) Johnson. She married George Stauffacher February 1, 1949 at Clear Lake, South Dakota. Marlene was a food service worker at UNI for 24 years retiring in 1989. She was a lifetime member of the VFW and also a member of the Cedar Falls AMVETS Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, George, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Eugene (Bernice) Stauffacher of Reinbeck, Iowa, Roger (Susan) Stauffacher of Burlington, Iowa; two daughters, Vicky (Stan) Gorsh of Henderson, Nevada, Peggy (Craig) Jamerson of Glendale, Arizona; four grandchildren, three step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, and two sisters, Marge (Garry) Grorud of Estelinne, South Dakota and Betty (Doyle) Strohschien of Clear Lake, South Dakota.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Lyle Johnson and one sister, Jane Hemmelman.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4—7:00 p.m. Friday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and an hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Marlene loved to cook, bake, spend time with her family, camping and wintering in Arizona.
