Mark S Sommer

Mark Steven Sommer, 59, of Cedar Falls, died at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo on Tuesday, July 5, 2011. He was born November 24, 1951, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, the son of Harold and Betty L. (Kaufman) Sommer. Mark married Donna Rae Wineman  June 10, 1972, at Scottsbluff. He graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering and a Masters degree from the University of Illinois. Mark worked for John Deere at Ankeny, Quad Cities and Waterloo for a total of 36 years.

He is survived by his wife, Donna of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Leslie (Will) Sunnock, of Verona, Wisconsin and Melissa Sommer of Cedar Falls; his parents, Harold and Betty Sommer of Scottsbluff:   one sister Mary Kay (Mike) Grasmick and their children, Ashley and Kevin of Madison, Wisconsin.

Mark loved his family, driving his Corvette, Mustang convertible and riding his Honda Gold Wing Motor Cycle and spending time with good friends. He was an organ tissue donor.

Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with visitation from 1:30 to service time. Inurnment will be at a later date in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Memorials may be directed to the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
