Mark E. Andorf, 58, of Cedar Falls, passed away peacefully with his children by his side, on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital, Blue Springs, after a long and tough battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Mark was born September 3, 1953 in Waterloo, Iowa to Ewald and Leora (Donovan) Andorf. Mark followed in his dad's footsteps and worked for John Deere as a machinist for 35 years, forced to retire after his diagnosis of Alzheimer's. He was a proud UAW member. Mark's number one priority was always his children. He loved spending time with his kids. He especially enjoyed trips to Wisconsin Dells, fishing and camping in Bluffton, Iowa, and skiing in Colorado. He was also a loving son, brother, and uncle and will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his daughter, Lindsey Andorf and his son, Mason Andorf, both of Blue Springs; his mother, Leora Andorf, of Cedar Falls; a brother, John (Linda) Andorf, of Perry, Iowa; one sister, Mary Ellen (Elliot) Ames, of Vorhees, New Jersey; three nephews, two nieces, Mark's John Deere family, and many lifelong friends and relatives. Mark is preceded in death by his father, Ewald Andorf and an older brother, David Andorf. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest privately by his family in several of his favorite places, including Colorado, Bluffton, and his family farm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association. The family would personally like to thank Sande and Mike Armstrong for opening their home and their hearts to graciously help Mark through this tough disease.
