Marian L. Sturm, 104, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, August 31, 2008, at Windsor Nursing & Rehab Center in Cedar Falls. She was born December 8, 1903 at West Union, Iowa, the daughter of Edward Lincoln & Luella (Searles) Ash. Marian married Albert Sturm in 1926 and he preceded her in death on April 3, 1958. She graduated from West Union High School and attended UNI for one year and taught in a country school at West Union for two years.Marian later worked for twenty five years as a sales clerk in the Smart Shop in downtown Cedar Falls, retiring in 1976.
She is survived by two sons, Robert F. (Maryl) Sturm of Cedar Falls and William L. (Betty) Sturm of Esteline, South Dakota; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one son, Donald Sturm; one granddaughter, Susan Sturm; three brothers, Harold, Ned and Bob Ash, andthree sisters, Marty Billmeyer, Matilda These and Eva Ash.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial in West Union Cemetery, West Union, Iowa. Visitation will be 4-6:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2008,at the funeral home and one hour before services on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to the family.
