Marian L. Megonigle Stiner

Marian L. Megonigle Stiner, 79, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at the Western Home Windhaven Assisted Living Center in Cedar Falls. She was born March 23, 1933 in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Edith (Ham) Megonigle. Marian married Jack E. Stiner on September 14, 1968 at the First United Methodist Church in Independence. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2009. Marian graduated from Independence High School and worked for thirty years at AT&T/Northwestern Bell, retiring in September of 1981. She was a member and volunteer at Prairie Lakes Church in Cedar Falls. Survivors include a step daughter, Jean ("Skip Henry") Spang, of Vancouver, Washington; two step grandchildren, Martha and Jay Spang; a brother, Doug Megonigle, of Independence, Iowa, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Marian was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a sister, Mina Hensley; a brother, Sam Megonigle, and a nephew, Doug Stiner. Services will be 10:30 am Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Prairie Lakes Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at 1:30 pm Wednesday in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will be 57:00 pm Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Prairie Lakes Church.
