Margaret M Sorenson

MARGARET M. SORENSON was born November 20, 1915 at Emmetsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Leman F. and Margaret (Roux) Place. She attended country school in Freedom Township, Palo Alto County, Iowa and graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1933. She received two years of normal training during high school, and then taught in the rural schools of Palo Alto county, for seven years. She married Walton J. Sorenson on February 27, 1941 at Emmetsburg, Iowa. They farmed for forty years in the Graettinger-Ringsted area, retiring in November of 1980. Margaret died Monday, December 8, 2003, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, at the age of 88 years.

Margaret is survived by one son, John (Carol) Sorenson of Waterloo, Iowa; two daughters, Mary (Doug) Glasnapp of Lawrence, Kansas and Carol Sorenson of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; four grandchildren, James and Jason Glasnapp & Michael and Rachel Sorenson; two sisters, Charlotte (Dick) Frink of Carmichael, California and Louise (Gene) Petty of Signal Mt., Tennessee and two brothers, Clifford Place of San Francisco, California and Harlan (Dorothy) Place of Emmetsburg, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four brothers, Melvin, Clarence, Robert, and Gilbert Place.

Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2003, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel.  Interment was 10:00 a.m. Friday at Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg, Iowa.  Memorials may be directed to Cedar Falls Lutheran Home or Cedar Valley Hospice.
