Margaret A. Butler

Margaret A. Butler, 88, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. She was born December 4, 1924 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of John & Myrtle (McMullen) Roark. Margaret married James E. Rasmussen January 18, 1946 in Charles City, Iowa. He preceded her in death May 31, 1964. She married Richard "Ben" Butler May 21, 1966 in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death June 3, 2007. Margaret worked at many local companies including Busy Bee Café, Rath Packing Company, Hinson Manufacturing, Waterloo Register, and retired from Landau Family Restaurants. Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Butler, and her granddaughter, Shelby Marie Blake, both of Cedar Falls, her sister, Helen (Dale) Modlin, of Grundy Center, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands; two brothers, Kenneth O'Rourke and John Roark, Jr.; and two sisters, Kathryn Minikus and Mary Teresa Hagberg. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
