Margaret Andersen Brandhorst

Margaret Andersen Brandhorst, 96, of Hudson, Iowa, died Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. She was born May 13, 1922 in rural Hudson, the daughter of Chris and Jenny (Larsen) Andersen. She married Donald Brandhorst September 28, 1943 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. She worked for custodial services at UNI, retiring in 1992. Margaret was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hudson, since 1943.

Margaret is survived by one son, Gary Brandhorst, of Hudson; one daughter, Connie Wasendorf, of Orlando, Florida; four grandchildren, Jennifer Brandhorst of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Luke (Christina) Brandhorst of Adel, Iowa, Russ (Amber) Wasendorf, Jr. of Orlando, Florida, and Chad (Janell) Brandhorst of Ankeny, Iowa; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild, and one sister, Helen (Merle) Pipho, of Tempe, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one son, David Brandhorst; one brother, Elmer Andersen and one granddaughter, Christine Blaine.

Funeral services will be 10: 30 a.m. Thursday, November 8, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church, with burial at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, both in rural Hudson. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and one hour before service at the church on Thursday.
