Marcella "Sally" Smith

Marcella "Sally" Frieda Smith, 93, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died at Thalman Square Western Home Communities on Sunday, May 17, 2015. She was born March 22, 1922 on a farm in Bremer County, near Waverly, the daughter of Carl Phillip and Frieda (Strein) Wagner. She married Fred J. Cerwinske January 21, 1939 in Charles City and he preceded her in death February 29, 1944. She married W. W. Smith July 15, 1983 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and he preceded her in death July 16, 2011. Marcella worked for Eagle's Food Store in Waterloo for seventeen and one half years. Marcella is survived by two daughters, Faith H. Sonksen, of Waterloo and Gloria (Tim Fitzgerald) Hayungs, of Granview, Illinois; one step son Richard (Linda) Smith, of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands; one daughter, Donna Sheldon; two brothers, Harry and Ralph Wagner, and two step-sons-in-law, Bob Sheldon and Ray Sonksen. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Charles City. Visitation will be one hour before services on Thursday at the Church. Memorials may be directed to Nazareth Lutheran Church and to Cedar Valley Hospice.
