DR. MAHMOOD YOUSEFI, PhD, was born September 27, 1939 at Naragh, Iran, the son of Hassan and Najmieh (Fazeli) Yousefi.  He married Rachelle LeRoux on July 20, 1968 in Nevada.  Dr. Yousefi was a graduate of Cal State University, Sacramento, and received his masters and doctorate from the University of California at Santa Barbara.  He was the Department Head of the Economics Department at Pah Lavi University in Shiraz, Iran.  He was a Visiting Professor in Economics at the University of Denver, Denver, Colorado, and Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Nebraska, Omaha.  He was Full Professor in Economics for 18 years and served as acting assistant vice president for Academic Affairs at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.  Dr. Yousefi died Thursday, December 9, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa, at 60 years of age. He is survived by his wife, Rachelle Yousefi of Cedar Falls; his children, Michael of Davis, California and Carolyn Yousefi of Rio Vista, California; his mother, Najmieh Yousefi and his brother, Ahmad, both of Tehran, Iran; and his sister, Saghar Yousefi Sahrai of Orangevale, California.  Dr. Yousefi was preceded in death by his father, Hassan; two brothers Namat and Shapour Yousefi; and a sister, Iran Yousefi.
