MABEL E. TANGEN, was born October 23, 1919, at Thompson, Iowa, the daughter of Elmen and Amelia (Jensen) Erickson. She married Kenneth Tangen, and they were later divorced. Mabel was a sales clerk at the Coast To Coast store and Carver Hardware for many years. She died Thursday, January 6, 2000, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, at 80 years of age.
Mabel is survived by her son, Gary and his wife Jane Tangen; her two daughters, Joann and her husband Syd Layton and Marlys and her husband Steve Spears, all of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren, Nick, Shelley, Cindy, Jeff, Tony, Dan, Carrie and Chad; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Hilda Martinson of Cedar Falls; and two brothers, Irwin Erickson of Thompson, Iowa, and Arthur Erickson of Rolfe, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Clara Ingebritson and one in infancy.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2000, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the church.
