Lyle Grapp, 87, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, April 2, 2017 at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. He was born October 5, 1929 in Black Hawk County, the son of Eldon and Edith (Fenner) Grapp. Lyle married Darlene Stover Baker on May 4, 1953 in Cedar Falls. He was a veteran of of the Korean war, serving in the United States Navy. Before his retirement he worked for Titus Manufacturing for nineteen years, John Deere for eleven years and was self employed as a painter for eight years, retiring in 1992. Lyle dearly loved his family, church, many friends, and spending winters in Mission, Texas, with his wife, and life itself.
He is survived by his wife Darlene Grapp, of Waterloo; five daughters, Deborah (Maynard) Bochmann, of Hampton, Diane Grapp. of Waterloo, Darla Grapp, of Waterloo, Marlee (Jerry) Storey, Waterloo, and Marie (Dan) Hills, of Waterloo; 23 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren; two brothers, Warren (Nancy) Grapp and Darrell "Rudy" Grapp, both of Cedar Falls; three sisters, Marjorie (Raynor) Marshal, of Allison, Darlene (Wayne) Herzog, of Cedar Falls, and Geraldine (Kenny) Hanson, of Evansdale.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and six sisters, one son-in-law, a grandchild and a great grandchild
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Trinity Bible Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 5. at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church on Thursday. Military honors will be presented by the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post # 49. Memorial may be directed to family. Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
