Luella Mae Larsen

Luella Mae Larsen, 100, of Oelwein formerly of Hudson, died Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Arlington Place Assisted Living in Oelwein.  Luella was born May 18, 1924 in Waterloo to the late Carl and Ethel (Cook) Miller.  She was united in marriage to Herbert F. Larsen on November 21, 1942 in Princeton, MO.  The couple was blessed with two sons: Robert and Larry.  Luella and Herbert celebrated 48 loving years together before his death on December 5, 1990.

Luella was a life-long member of Fredsville Lutheran Church and had many cherished memories from her baptism, confirmation and growing up with the church and its parishioners.  She received the Governor's Volunteer Award in 1998 for her work helping second graders improve their reading skills at Black Hawk Elementary.  Luella sat on the original board of directors for the Lutheran Home (now NewAldaya LifeScapes).

Luella is survived by her son, Robert (Raeann) Larsen of Firestone, CO; daughter-in-law, Twyla Larsen of Oelwein; grandchildren, Trent (Kristalyn) Larsen, Troy (Lisa) Larsen and Christina (Mike) Spear; great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Emmalea, Zachary, Lauren and Ashley; and extended family and friends.  She is preceded in death by her father and step-mother, Carl and Edna Miller; mother and step-father, Ethel and John Siegle; son, Larry Larsen; great-granddaughter, Jessica J. Spear; siblings, Shirley Christian and Dale Miller.

A Celebration of Luella's Life will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Fredsville Lutheran Church (32756 150th St, Cedar Falls, IA 50613).  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.  Inurnment will be in Fredsville Lutheran Cemetery.

Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
