Lucille E Pierce

Lucille E. Pierce, 90, of Northbrook Manor in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, died of congestive heart failure on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Northbrook Manor. She was born April 11, 1918 at Laurel, Iowa, the daughter of George and Mary (Schwarck) Platt. Lucille married Milford J. Pierce on November 26, 1936. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1972. Lucille graduated from Pitze's Beauty School in 1937 and managed a beauty shop in Waterloo for five years. She later worked at the Smart Shop in Cedar Falls, retiring in 1980. Lucille enjoyed spending time with her family and especially family gatherings, gardening, knitting/crocheting, and traveling. She had a quick wit and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Darrell (Pat) Pierce of Marion, Iowa and Douglas (Jane) Pierce of Farmington, New Mexico; four grandchildren, one great grandson and two step great grandchildren; and one sister, Avis Eckhoff, of Eldora, Iowa.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two sisters, Fern Wright Schufelt and Viola Morlan.

Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be one hour before service at the Lutheran Home Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
