LUCILLE R.
HILGER was born May 12, 1906, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Albert J. and Abbie (Hasbrouck) Close. She married Fred H. Hilger on September 10, 1924, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo. Lucille died Thursday, September 28, 2000, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, at 94 years of age.
She is survived by her husband Fred, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two daughters, Phyllis Y. Napiecek of Maryville, Missouri and Sally M. Chapin and her husband Stanley of Waterloo; a son, Mick Hilger and his wife Linda of Cedar Falls; thirteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Arlyne Smith Forman of Cedar Falls, Beverly Bengston and her husband George of Waterloo, and Mary Joan Schmidt and her husband Emil of Cedar Falls. Lucille was preceded in death by a daughter, Madonna R. McCarty; her parents, two sisters, Alberta Redding and Doris Smith, and five brothers, Edwin, Lincoln, Orville, Robert and Gilbert Close.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2000, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Memorials be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.
