LUCILLE L. "LUCY" CHAPIN, 88, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls. She was born August 23, 1918 in Chester, Iowa, the daughter of George F. and Alice May (Warren) Dennis. Lucy married James E. Chapin on April 26, 1973 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death on November 8, 1993. Lucy was known as Sister Mary Vincentia Dennis when she was a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Dubuque, where she was an LPN at Xavier Hospital (Mercy Hospital) for twenty-two years. Later she was an LPN at the Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls, until her retirement in 1982. Lucy was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she participated in the Monday morning Scripture Group, and the American Legion Post 237 Auxiliary. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and camping.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn K. (Chuck) Di Domenico, of Raymond, Iowa, and her son, Daryl D. Chapin, of Des Moines, Iowa, one grandchild and one great grandchild.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents and husband, and a brother, Carvel Dennis.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Friday, March 16, 2007, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls, with interment at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Visitation will be 4—7:00 pm Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, where a 4 pm Rosary Service and a 7 pm Vigil Service will be conducted. Visitation also one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Sisters of St. Francis, 3390 Windsor Ave., Dubuque, Iowa 52001.
