Lucille E. Arends, 93, of Charles City, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Monday, March 28, 2011, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City. She was born December 21, 1917 in Colo, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas L. and Hazel M. (Johnson) Handsaker. Lucille married Grant Arends December 20, 1944 in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death February 29, 2004. Lucille graduated from Cedar Falls High School.

She is survived by two daughters, Lennette (Mike) Perigo of Percy, Arkansas and Cynthia (Rick) Noah of Charles City and four grandchildren, Breanna Hennessy, Noelle Noah, Erica Noah, and Kelsey Noah.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and husband, step-father, Clarence Showers, and two sisters, Lois Grimstad and Waneta Behrens.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls, with visitation one hour before services. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church or to the family.
