Louise Schurman

Louise Schurman, 99, of Cedar Falls, died at home Wednesday, December 30, 2009.  She was born March 29, 1910 near Grundy Center, Iowa, the daughter of John and Helena (Stroh) Johnson.  Louise married Jelle Jack Schurman on November 21, 1929 at the Reformed Church in Aplington, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on January 8, 1978. Before her retirement, she worked for Hinson Manufacturing for nineteen years.

Survivors include three sons, LaVern (Yvonne) Schurman and Duane (Sherry) Schurman, both of Cedar Falls, and Dennis (Cathrine) Schurman of Waterloo; three daughters, Donna Payne of Cedar Falls, Janice (Stephen) Fisher of Fairbank and Linda (Larry) Daniels of Dike; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two brothers, John Johnson, Jr. and Earl Johnson; two sisters, Pearl Christoffersen and Helen Bramblette; a granddaughter, Yvette Schurman, and two sons-in-law, Benne Buss and Daniel Payne.

Services will be 10:30 am Monday, January 4, 2010, at Trinity Bible Church, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls.   Visitation will be 2—5:00 pm Sunday, January 3, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church.  Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the church.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
